Woman identified in fatal downtown Charleston shooting

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A woman is dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Charleston.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the shooting victim as Robin Williams, 59, from the Charleston area. Williams died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Charleston police received a call around 2 a.m. in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived at 208 Romney Street and located the victim at a house under renovation.

Police are investigating the homicide, but do not have a suspect or motive at this time.

A man who owns the house next door said the murder hits too close to home.

"When I sat down last night, ate Sunday dinner, I cut the TV on. I saw someone killed, that's my house next door," said Doug Fields.
