WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The two suspects arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a West Ashley pharmacy helped a third man rob the store, according to court documents.

David Branham Thomas Jr., 19, and Shane Paul Young, 25, conspired with Jimmy Patrick McDonald to rob the CVS Pharmacy 2566 Ashley River Road, according to the affidavits.

It also said in the documents that McDonald was the one who actually approached the pharmacist and demanded pills, while Thomas distracted other people in the store and Young drove the car. Thomas also stayed behind and gave police false information and Young helped McDonald get out of the area, according to the affidavits.

On the night of Feb. 23, a man entered the pharmacy and demanded oxycontin and loritab from the pharmacist. According to investigators, the suspect implied that he was armed but he did not take out a weapon.

The Charleston Police Department charged Thomas and Young with armed robbery. Both men were locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center. Police are continuing the investigation.
