ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - A 49-year-old Rock Hill woman has been arrested and faces assault charges after deputies say she stole her husband's prosthetic leg and attacked him.
According to a York County Sheriff's report, deputies were called out to Matthews Simril Road in Rock Hill on Sunday evening, around 11:24 p.m. to the report of an assault.
When deputies arrived, 53-year-old James Covington told them that his wife Vicki was intoxicated and had assaulted him. According to the report, deputies saw a cut on James' left ear, a scratch on his left ring finger and scratches on his back.
Covington told deputies that his wife, Vicki, would "not leave him alone" and had even taken his prosthetic leg away from him. When she stepped outside to smoke, Covington told deputies that he locked the door "to keep her away from him."
The report states that when Vicki Covington saw the door was locked, she broke out the glass in the door to get back into the home.
Deputies observed a cut on Vicki's right hand and a "strong smell of an alcoholic beverage on Vicki's breath." Vicki advised that she cut her hand breaking the glass out of the door.
When asked about James' injuries, Vicki told deputies that she "may have scratched him during their altercation," saying that James had pushed her out of the house. She told deputies that she called police, and the desk officer remembered talking to a female that did not give her name.
According to the report, the woman that called never mentioned an assault, only asked questions "about when a couple gets separated, who decides who gets the house?"
Vicki was arrested for Criminal Domestic Violence and transported to the York County Detention Center.
