Charleston County special election results are in

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The results are in for a special election for the Charleston County District 1 seat.

Four republicans were on the ballot trying to fill former Councilman Joe McKeown's now vacant seat.

The top two voter getters are Mark Smith with 45 percent of the vote and Herbert R. Sass III with 34 percent.

Joseph Debney with the Charleston County Board of Elections says they won't decided if there will be a run off until Thursday.

The winner will face democrat Richard Hricik on April 26.
