CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A judge on Wednesday set bond at $1.8 million for a man accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl while presenting a knife.
Corey Bernard Hymes, a.k.a Troy Antonio Brown, is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping. Hymes turned himself in to authorities around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to an affidavit, Hymes was wanted for a Feb. 27 incident in which authorities say he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl while presenting a knife.
Court warrants state the victim asked Hymes to give her a ride home from the West Ashley area. Instead, deputies say he drove down a dirt road. On the dirt road, authorities say Hymes sexually assaulted the girl at knifepoint and then dropped her off at a downtown Charleston post office.
During the incident, when the girl refused Hymes, he told her that he would kill her and dump her body, according to a police report.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Hymes has a long criminal history, which includes being found not guilty of murder in 1996.
