Soldier from South Carolina dies in Afghanistan

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Military officials say a soldier from South Carolina has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Wednesday that 19-year-old Pfc. Kalin C. Johnson of Lexington died March 8 in Kandahar province of injuries suffered in a non-combat accident.

Johnson was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
