BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 48-year-old man for online conversations of a sexual nature to a person he believed to be a minor.
Authorities arrested James William Shaw, Jr. of Mt. Holly, NC on Thursday. At the time of Shaw's arrest, he was being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center on similar charges.
According to investigators, Shaw engaged in online conversations of a sexual nature and sent graphic sexual images to a person he believed to be a minor, who was actually an undercover officer with the Charleston Police Department.
The sheriff's office also say that Shaw solicited and coached the person thought to be a minor through various lewd acts that were sexual in nature. Shaw was charged with six counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and six counts of dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
In June 2010, Shaw was arrested by the Orangeburg County Sheriffs' Office on eight counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and eight counts of dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
