DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – Monday, residents will get a better idea what a new and a revised school in Dorchester District Two will look like.
The board of trustees will tour the new Joseph R. Pye Elementary School construction site and the new additions at Ashley Ridge High School.
Joseph R. Pye Elementary School on Patriot Boulevard will open in the fall.
The school will draw about 740 students who would have attended Fort Dorchester, Oakbrook or Spann Elementary schools.
About 360 high school students from Fort Dorchester and Summerville will start their school year at the expanded Ashley Ridge High School.
Tthe expansion includes a larger cafeteria and 19 classrooms.
The board voted on these changes to alleviate overcrowding.
