More residents moving back to N. Charleston nursing home

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - After a weekend inspection, an additional 90 beds have been approved for patients at the White Oak Manor nursing home, according to DHEC.

A fire displaced the residents of the assisted living center on March 5. According to fire officials, the fire started in a linen closet and forced residents to be evacuated.

The 90 beds were opened Saturday morning following a DHEC inspection of the main building including a general review of the active sprinkler system, fire alarm system, nurse call system, all completed and ongoing construction work, and general condition of the building.

There are 116 beds open with 58 beds remaining closed. DHEC says it is estimated that the closed beds will be approved for use in about 10 days.
