Sheriff's office concludes investigation into wreck which killed teen

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office concluded its investigation into a fatal accident on Folly Road last month that killed a 19-year-old woman.

Investigators say that the deceased, Meghan Elizabeth Corbett, drove a Ford Explorer left of center striking an oncoming vehicle.The driver of the oncoming vehicle, a 2004 Ford F-250, then ran into a house at 1714 Folly Road.

The sheriff's office says that no other extenuating circumstances played a role in the Feb. 15 accident.

There were three other victims inside the Ford Explorer at the time of the crash. None of the victims were wearing their seat belts, according to a spokesman with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. The victims were injured and hospitalized, but have since been released.
