CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Some students at the Medical University of South Carolina had quite the St. Patrick's day.
Thursday afternoon they found out where they would be spending their residencies. At the Gaillard Auditorium, fourth year medical students are finding out where they were matched for the residency programs.
Over 140 students showed up dressed in their Irish best, and one by one went on stage to reveal their fate to all their classmates.
Prior to getting matched, students fill out hours of paper work, do countless interviews with hospitals and then rank a list of their top choices.
A husband and wife duo both were matched with a hospital in Greenville.
They say they feel like their hard work over the past few years has really paid off. Some students will at MUSC in Charleston, while others went as far as Seattle and everywhere in between.
Match Day is nationally known where all medical universities reveal their student matches the same day.
