Vehicle shredded after high-speed crash

HOUSTON (CNN) - Only bits and pieces of a car were left after a high-speed crash, but the driver and passenger survived.

Metal, glass and a tire littered the street in the northern part of Houston. Investigators said the man driving the car may have been going 100 mph when he crashed into a metal sign.

Investigators said the driver had been drinking.

The driver and his passenger were thrown from the car. They were rushed to the hospital and officials say they are conscious and alert.
