Orangeburg sheriff shuts down 2 more night clubs

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell has shut down two more night clubs within his jurisdiction.

The night clubs, both located in the town of Eutawville, have been condemned. Ravenell says deputies went out on March 4 to conduct an alcohol and licensing compliance investigation at Club Moore's One Stop on Gardens Gate Road. The Club's operator was cited for sale of beer without a license and all beer on the premises was seized.

Deputies returned less than two weeks later with the county fire inspector and a code enforcement officer. At that time, numerous violations were cited and the club was then condemned.

On March 16, the county fire inspector and a code enforcement officer evaluated the Star Club on Comet Court. Officials immediately condemned the club resulting in it being shut down permanently.

In a press release, Ravenell says "Simply put - our efforts will continue. The clubs that we are investigating are not operating in the full scope of the law. Our officers are still receiving complaints and we will continue to investigate businesses operating illegally."
