SC man who had sex with horse released from prison

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to having sex with a horse in Horry County has been released from prison after serving 16 months in prison.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported Monday that 51-year-old Rodell Vereen of Longs now must serve two years of probation and register as a sex offender.

Vereen pleaded guilty in 2009 to buggery and trespassing after a Conway woman found him in her barn in the Wampee community. The woman pointed a shotgun at him until police arrived.

Vereen was on probation at the time for a 2007 incident involving the same horse.

He's been told to stay away from the woman's stables.
