COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested five people accused of manufacturing methamphetamine in Colleton County.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested 29-year-old Lindsay Rebecca Ewers of Ridgeville, 32-year-old Billy Ray Hinson also of Ridgeville, 57-year-old Edward Lawrence Uren of Cottageville, 36-year-old Frankie Lavern Wiggins of Cottageville and 46-year-old Keith Alan Williams also of Cottageville.

Investigators say the arrests are the result of a two-month investigation that included use of the NPLEx system; a statewide, electronic database that tracks the purchase of illegal quantities of cold and allergy products containing ephedrine.

The NPLEx system is part of the new methamphetamine law that went into effect on Jan.1 of this year.
