NAACP weighing in on principal change at 2 Charleston Co. schools

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The NAACP is weighing in on a future change in principals at two of Charleston County's lowest performing schools and they want members of the public to share their thoughts, too.

North Charleston High School will lose its principal, Juanita Middleton. She'll become the interim director of Early Head Start this summer. Charles Benton, who has led Burke High School since 2006, will leave to become the interim principal of North Charleston High.

Both principals will stay at their current schools through the rest of the school year.

The NAACP plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fellowship Hall of the Morris Brown A.M.E church on Morris Street in Charleston.

They will talk about the school district's plans and hear concerns and thoughts on the issue.
