GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - Services are set for a 6-year-old South Carolina boy who died when a miniature train crashed at a park.
Benji Easler of Gaffney died when the train derailed at Cleveland Park in Spartanburg on Saturday.
The funeral was set for 4 p.m. Thursday at Corinth Baptist Church in Gaffney, where his father is pastor. Dwight Easler, his wife, Tabitha, and their two other sons were among 27 people injured in the crash.
The train driver, Matt Conrad, said Wednesday he thought the engine and the track were safe. He had told police Saturday he was going too fast. His lawyers said Wednesday he was in shock when he said that.
The family of 1 person injured in the crash has sued, accusing state and local officials of negligence.
