Fire destroys house, leaves family homeless

RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Red Cross volunteers were called to the scene of a Ridgeville home fire to assist a family whose home was destroyed early Thursday afternoon.

The Red Cross provided two adults with financial assistance to help replace the food and clothing lost in the fire, comfort kits filled with emergency personal supplies, and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies.

The Red Cross has assisted 931 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties since their fiscal year began July 1, 2010 including 286 since January 1, 2011.
