CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Coast Guard responded to a boat on the intracoastal waterway that struck a navigation aid device Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the boater was brought back to shore by his nephew after his boat hit the device in the area between the North and Santee rivers.

Coast Guard officials say that the boat is still in the waterway and a safety broadcast has been issued for boaters in the area.

Authorities say they will be conducting an investigation to make sure that the navigation device was in the proper place.
