TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The superintendent says a payroll mistake has delayed paychecks for teachers in Florence School District 4.
Superintendent Bertha McCants says the district did not deposit money into its payroll account in time to be transferred into teachers' accounts first thing Friday.
McCants says the district recently laid off its payroll clerk and the district didn't assign anyone else to her duties.
McCants says the teachers should have their paychecks before the end of Friday.
State Education Department officials will be sending someone to monitor operations at the district.
