JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has arrested three people from Summerville accused of stealing $4,000 worth of scrap copper from an electric company on Johns Island Thursday night.

Police charged 21-year-old Amanda Michelle Jensen, 24-year-old Robby Willie Tracy and 21-year-old David Charles Sweat with second-degree burglary.

They were locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.

Authorities say the suspects entered a Berkeley Electric fenced storage area on Maybank Highway by cutting the fence in various spots. Once the suspects got in, they took scrap copper from a storage bin and left through the hole in the fence.

Police say the alarm system at the business did not activate during the burglary.
