New hotel plans for Patriots Point approved by board of directors

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - It's looking more likely that a new upscale hotel will be calling Patriots Point home after a special meeting on Tuesday.

According to Butch Mills, Communications Manager for Patriots Point, the Maritime Museum's board of directors approved a resolution to allow the operator of Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina to construct a new hotel of up to 80 feet tall on a site adjacent to the current lodging.

The proposed 92-room property will now be reviewed by the Mount Pleasant Planning Commission and Town Council.

Developers hope to break ground on the project this fall and to open in March 2013.
