Police arrest woman accused of pointing rifle at Circle K clerk

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a 19-year-old woman accused of pointing a rifle at a Circle K clerk in West Ashley.

The Charleston Police Department charged Eleni Trevino of North Charleston with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

According to investigators, the suspect pointed a rifle at the victim and yelled repeatedly for her to give her the money early Tuesday morning.

The clerk opened the cash register and pulled out the cash tray. The suspect pulled the money out of the tray and put it in the pockets of her hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

Nearby business owners were stunned.

"This is the worst thing I've ever seen, a woman carrying such a big rifle like that and walking in? What a shame," said Subway owner Nilesh Patel.

"That really terrifies me," said Anne Pineault of the Tobacco Spot. "What is she thinking, you know?"
