Woman accused of driving into school children to make court appearance

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

A Summerville woman accused of driving her car into a group of kids who were walking to school will be in court Friday.

Summerville Police say 33-year-old Amy Lynn Stewart hit four children crossing the street because they wouldn't move when she honked her horn. She is charged with four counts of assault and battery in the first degree.

The incident happened on February 17 at Tulip Drive and Iris Street. One child was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The students were on their way to Alston Middle School.
