Fundraisers planned for Spartanburg train victims

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Friends and supporters are holding two weekend fundraisers for the more than two dozen people injured in a children's train ride crash last month.

Half of all Saturday proceeds from a Krispy Kreme in Spartanburg went toward accident victims, and donations were accepted at the counter.

On Sunday, sales of $7 fish plates at Webster's Seafood in Gaffney will be given to the Cleveland Park Accident Fund.

Twenty-seven people were injured in the March 19 crash at Spartanburg's Cleveland Park. 6-year-old Benji Easler was killed.

On Thursday, the Hejaz Shrine Club raised more than $6,300 at a special matinee performance to benefit accident victims.
