Police: Former employee attacks boss with crowbar at auto shop

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested a 60-year-old man accused of attacking his former boss with a crowbar at an auto shop in North Charleston.

Authorities charged Michael P. Fitzpatrick with second-degree burglary, attempted robbery and second-degree assault.

It all started around 7 a.m. Monday morning, when officers responded to an alarm activation at Parks Auto Parts.

The victim, the store manager, said that while he was inside the store Fitzpatrick attempted to hit him with a crowbar. The victim said that while the two struggled, the victim managed to break away, run outside and call police.

Officers say they found Fitzpatrick on top of a shelf in a storage room at the store.

A police report states that Fitzpatrick had cuts and abrasions on his face and arms. Investigators say they believe that Fitzpatrick may have hit himself when he was fighting with the victim.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injury.
