Traffic tips for getting to the Air Expo

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - For access to the day's events, both the Rivers/Aviation and Dorchester gates will be open to the public beginning at 8 am. All lanes to the base at both Dorchester and Rivers/Aviation gates will be incoming ONE WAY. At 2 pm, all lanes will be reversed ONE WAY for outbound traffic only at the Rivers/Aviation gate; and at 2:30 pm all lanes will be reversed ONEWAY for outbound traffic at the Dorchester gate.  Also, the Rivers/Aviation gate will be closed while the Thunderbirds perform (no traffic in or out will be allowed).

From Mt Pleasant, Daniel Island, West Ashley

•Exit 526 at Dorchester Rd and proceed to Hill Blvd Gate
From Downtown Charleston

•Take I-26 West and Exit 211 at Remount Rd, turn left at stoplight and right on Aviation
From I-26 East

•Exit 209 at Ashley Phosphate Rd. Turn right at stop light and left at Stall Rd (2nd light at Hess station). Make a right onto Midland Park Rd and proceed to Aviation.
Aviation Avenue will be closed by SC DOT for the duration of the Air Show. Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area.

Traffic lights and intersections of Dorchester Rd from Montague Ave to Ashley Phosphate Rd will be manned by North Charleston police officers and Charleston Country Sheriff's to ensure a smooth traffic flow
