FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are looking for the driver of a truck who hit an 11-year-old girl on Folly Beach Tuesday night.

The Folly Beach Police Department says it happened around 5 p.m. at the Washout on East Ashley.

"I heard a thump and looked up. That's when I saw her lying on the ground,"says Richard Koger, a key witness.

Authorities say the girl was bumped and bruised but is expected to be okay.

"She was carrying a laundry basket of toys, and when the truck hit her, I think the basket absorbed some of the shock." said  Koger.

The girl said after she was hit, the man opened the door and said,"Oh my god! I'm so sorry, I'm going to call 911."

Shortly after that, the girl said that the man drove off.  The driver is described as a white man between 40 and 55 who drove a Gold Dodge Ram 1500 with a company logo on back.
