CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested the man they say stole a truck belonging to the City of Charleston Public Service over the weekend.
Charleston Police say 46-year-old Jerome Monroe, of North Tracy Street, stole the pickup from 75 Calhoun Street around 6 p.m. last Saturday.
Monroe was located and apprehended by bicycling officers on Wednesday, according to police. Police said that the truck was found wrecked on I-26 near the Spruill Avenue exit later on that evening.
Monroe went to prison in 2008 after being convicted of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. According to his rap sheet, Monroe violated his probation twice and was sent back to prison two more times before being released.
