Argument at North Charleston hotel leads to drug dealing charges

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say they arrested a 24-year-old man after they heard a loud argument at his hotel room and discovered a stash of drugs that included marijuana and cocaine.

The North Charleston Police Department charged Keneton Tyrone Powell with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and crack cocaine.

Officers responded to the Airport Inn at 4620 Dorchester Road for a woman that reported that she had found her stolen tv in one of the hotel rooms.

When police arrived at the hotel, they could not find the woman but heard a loud commotion coming from a room.

A police report states that when the officers went to the room to investigate, they could smell marijuana coming from the room. When one of the officers knocked on the door, a man opened the door and officers say they saw drugs sitting in plain view on the bed.

Powell told officers that the drugs were his and he was taken into custody.
