AUSTIN, TX (KVUE/KTBC/CBS) - A dog is continuing to recover after a Texas man says a police officer shot him.
Dog owner Wilson Drummond said an officer mistakenly fired on his dog Zulu after entering his home on a reported of a break-in. The people thought to be intruders turned out to be guests of Drummond.
"Basically, Zulu was doing what he was supposed to do. He was taking care of the house," Drummond said.
Zulu will not have to have his leg amputated, but Drummond said he has contacted the Austin Police Department for help with the extensive medical bills.
The department has not commented on the accusations.
