COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Colleton County school officials say five eighth grade students have been suspended after a video surfaced of the boys fighting in a school bathroom.
According to Assistant Colleton County School Superintendent Bob Pence, the assistant principal received a tip about a fighting video posted on YouTube Thursday night.
School officials say there were at least five boys involved with making the fight video.
The eighth graders involved have been suspended for three days. Pence says that it was a "He-Man" contest and said that the fight did not last more than 30 minutes.
The school district says they are very disappointed in the behavior of the students and is investigating the incident. Officials say the boys are cooperating.
"I hope their actions on this incident will influence other students to think about the consequences before they act," Pence said. "It's sad to see students taking something from a video or a movie and trying to do that thing they see in real life."
