Police investigate rash of car break-ins in Newington subdivision

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating a rash of car break-ins which happened in the Newington subdivision over the weekend.

Burglarized residents told Summerville Police Department that the burglaries happened between late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Police say burglars hit vehicles parked at homes on Plantation Circle, Nelson Court, Whitehall Road, Boone Drive, Plantation Drive, Smythe Drive, and King Charles Circle.

Police responded to 10 incidents in all, and in every case the victims left their vehicles unsecured, according to the incident reports.

Over $1500 worth of property was stolen, including laptop computers, GPS devices, cell phones, and other miscellaneous items like CDs and cup holders.

Some of the stolen property was recovered near bushes and hedges at nearby residences and police were able to extract fingerprints from some of the vehicles.
