JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged Ishmel Jayvan Lemon in connection with the a deadly shooting on James Island on March 30.
Lemon has been charged with three counts of accessory after the fact of attempted murder and one count of obstruction of justice. Lemon was arrested on Friday afternoon on James Island after police say they received a tip that he was driving a vehicle on James Island.
Authorities say Lemon is also being charged with false information to police as well as no driver's license in possession. Lemon was identified as one of several individuals involved in the shooting by video at the kangaroo gas station.
Meanwhile, authorities are still searching for 24-year-old Domoneik Antwan Washington wanted for murder and two counts of attempted murder, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
A surveillance photo is the last known image of Washington, the man sheriff deputies say fired several shots into a car at the Kangaroo Express gas station on Folly Road on March 30.
The incident killed one man and wounded two others.
"Some people out there are scared. These are pretty serious individuals," Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon said."You're dealing with folks who just don't want to be viewed as working with the police."
After finding two bullet riddled cars at two crime scenes, the sheriff says there's no doubt it was a gun battle over territory.
"Some of these are pretty significant groups, gangs," Sheriff Cannon says."It was a firefight and when you say gang warfare, warfare is the operative word there. You're looking basically at small unit tactics in terms of how they approached that and we get some insight to that looking at the tapes."
The sheriff says the unreleased video surveillance of what happened at the gas station shows the horrifying details and says he's amazed that nobody else was killed.
"It's a wonder when you look at that and all the bullets that were flying. We probably have half a dozen guns involved and some of those high caliber," Sheriff Cannon says.
The focus now is on finding Washington. Sheriff Cannon says some of the suspect's buddies may be hiding him, but he's confident that he will be found.
