GREER, S.C. (AP) - Laurens County sheriff's deputies have detained a man they say was driving a car belonging to a Greer woman found dead in her home.
Greenville County officials say 64-year-old Karen Hughes was found late Monday morning after they were called to the home by a neighbor who hadn't seen the woman since Friday.
Laurens County Sheriff's Lt. Judy Stiles says a deputy found the woman's car at a convenience store near Ware Shoals on Monday night and detained the driver.
No charges have been filed, but Greenville Sheriff's Lt. Shea Smith says the driver is a person of interest.
Deputy Coroner Tom Selfridge says an autopsy was planned Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
