MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – Officials with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office say they have discovered three dead animals inside a suspicious package in the Murrells Inlet area Tuesday.

Deputy Russell Goodale, spokesman for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, said the package is an unlabeled FedEx package and was located near Summerlight Drive in the Prince Creek area.

Goodale said the package was found sometime before noon Tuesday and bomb units with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were called to the scene.

After an x-ray was performed on the package by those SLED bomb units, it was determined the package contained three dead animals.

Authorities have not released additional details, such as what type of animals have been found. WMBF News will provide further details as soon as they become available.
