Police: Man steals friend's credit cards, robs two women

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 23-year-old man accused of snatching a woman's purse and robbing another woman an hour later.

Charleston Police charged Christopher Spivey with card theft, forgery, armed robbery and purse snatching.

It all started on March 21, when a woman told police that an acquaintance used her credit and debit cards without her permission. The woman also said the acquaintance stole several of her personal checks to purchase several items.

Detectives say they were then able to identify Spivey as a suspect in a purse snatching and in an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday.

The purse snatching happened around 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 3125 Bees Ferry Road when a man grabbed a woman's purse out of her shopping cart.

The armed robbery occurred about 6:20 p.m. when a man armed with a handgun approached a woman in the parking lot at 1200 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. The man demanded her purse and the woman gave him the money she had in her purse.

Spivey was locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
