CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police discovered several casings in downtown Charleston after a shooting early Friday morning.
Officers were called to Simons and King Street around 1 a.m. Friday after reports of gun shots in the area. The driver of a vehicle told police that she and four other passengers in her car, were next to her vehicle when they observed several shots being fired.
The group quickly laid down on the ground behind the vehicle when they saw and heard the gun shots. The driver of the car told police she remained standing when the shots were fired and was able to see the suspect as he ran by. She did not know the suspect.
The suspect was described by the witness as a younger dark skin black male wearing all black. He had a small semi-automatic handgun.
Officers found four shell casings on the north side of Simmons Street approximately 20 feet from King Street.
Investigators say that no one was shot and they are still investigating.
