Bomb scare at TV news station ends after several hours

DETROIT (WXYZ/CNN) - A bomb scare at a Detroit TV news station ended after several tense hours Thursday night.

Local NBC affiliate WDIV was evacuated around 8:30 p.m. ET after a suspicious package was found.

A bomb squad was called in and allegedly took the package from the scene and blew it up.

It remains unknown if the package was an explosive or where it came from.

Part of the station's 11 p.m. ET newscast was broadcast from outside the TV station.

Employees were able to go back inside around midnight.
