(CNN) - Some dinosaurs hunted at night, according to researchers at the University of California Davis.
This new finding goes against the belief that dinosaurs were mostly active during the day, leaving mammals to move at night.
Scientists examined a bony ring found in the eyes of dinosaurs, lizards and birds. They concluded the eyes of animals with that feature were primarily nocturnal.
Experts said that means the depiction of night-hunting velociraptors in the sci-fi movie Jurassic Park may have been accurate after all.
The new research was published Thursday in the journal Science.
