Man wanted for defrauding banks in four states

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a man wanted for defrauding banks in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

Demond Copeland is wanted for identity theft and defrauding a federally insured institution.

According to investigators, Copeland entered the Suntrust Bank on 1776 Ashley River last Saturday and withdrew $1500 using a false Georgia driver's license. On the same day, he also withdrew $2000 from the Suntrust Bank on 3125 Bees Ferry Rd.

The driver's license and a credit card Copeland was using was recovered at a Goose Creek bank, when police say Copeland was unable to withdraw money and left the bank.
