School placed on lock down after larceny suspect runs through campus

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say Ashley Hall School was placed on lock down after a larceny suspect ran through the school's common area Tuesday afternoon.

The Charleston Police Department say it all started around 2 p.m., when College of Charleston public safety officers were in pursuit of two people suspected of stealing a bicycle from Bull Street.

According to investigators, one suspect ran across the common area of Ashley Hall School from the Smith Street side to the Rutledge Avenue side.

Ashley Hall School was then put on lock down as a precaution. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested near Ashley Avenue and Bee Street. He is being charged with larceny and resisting arrest.

Police are still looking for the second suspect. Two police officers were stationed at the school as students were released for the day.
