As Congress nears 100th day, Scott meets voters

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - As Congress nears the 100th day of the session, U.S. Rep. Tim Scott is meeting with constituents in North Charleston.

Scott, who represents South Carolina's 1st Congressional District on the coast, has scheduled a town hall meeting for Trident Technical College on Wednesday.

He says he wants to give constituents an idea of what Congress is doing to trim the size of the federal government and cut spending.

Scott is the state's first black Republican congressman since Reconstruction.
