3 men arrested after police find drugs, gun

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Three men were arrested in North Charleston Tuesday after police officers found a gun and 63 grams of marijuana.

When officers responded to 9496 Highway 78 in reference to a complaint that a subject was sitting in a vehicle brandishing a gun, they were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

As they were leaving shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, one officer noticed movement coming from a silver pick-up truck with black windows parked in a grassy field. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a black pistol in plain view behind the passenger seat and a dog inside. Officers decided to wait and see if the vehicle's owner would return.

A few minutes later, three males walked from a nearby gas station parking lot and approached the vehicle. Officers approached and patted down the suspects. After running a background check, police discovered that two of the suspects had warrants out for their arrest. They were placed into custody.

After interviewing the men, officers determined where each suspect was sitting in the vehicle. The driver of the truck told police that there was no gun in the car before he picked up the other two men.

Police determined that the gun belonged to 22 year-old Brandon Jerome Richards of Summerville. He was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a pistol with an obliterated serial number.

Officers also discovered a green plant-like material sitting on one of the seats in the truck. The substance was determined to be approximately 62.9 grams of marijuana. Police charged 22-year-old Hadrian Levon Jamerson of Ladson with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Jamerson and Richards were transported to the Charleston County Detention Center.

Police also arrested 19-year-old James Bruce Hearne II of Summerville on warrants issued by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
