MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Tea Party stormed the decks of the USS Yorktown rallying for the troops overseas. Headlining the rally was former Speaker of the House and possible presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich thanked the crowd of more than 500 Tea Party members for the fighting they've already done but he says they haven't yet won the war.
Gingrich stressed just like the Armed Forces overseas civilians at home also need to make sacrifices for the country.
After Gingrich, North Charleston native Tim Scott took the stage and the crowd responded.
"Tim took it to another level," says Clyde Craven. "He really got us all fired up."
Scott spoke for several minutes about his disapproval of the use of the armed forces by Congress and the Obama Administration.
"This is all about supporting our troops," says Scott. "It's so important for us to recognize those that are willing to die and bleed for the country. This gives us the opportunity to tell the Military that is serving for the American cause, thank you."
