Man rescued after boat runs aground

The Coast Guard rescued a boater after his vessel ran aground on the Charleston North Harbor Jetties Thursday night.

The Coast Guard says that the boater in his 26-foot sailing vessel had ran aground and was taking on water at around 6:12 p.m.

Coast Guard Station Charleston responded by sending out a 25-foot Response Boat-Small rescue crew and a 41-foot Utility Boat-Large rescue crew along with an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Savannah, Ga., to assist the boater.

The Coast Guard rescue crew arrived on scene at 7 p.m. and recovered the boater from the water.

No injuries were reported.
