Colonial Properties notified Cypress Cove apartment complex tenants that Charleston Police will increase patrols in the area following an armed robbery last week.
On Monday, residents received a letter that said courtesy officers and Charleston Police will step up patrols. In the letter, apartment officials also urged residents to take precautions by keeping windows and doors locked and to report any suspicious people or activity.
Charleston police say on Friday, 17-year-old Anthony Heyward and another suspect robbed a 27-year-old man at gunpoint. A similar robbery happened just five days prior at the same complex.
Police say that on April 17, a 34-year-old man was held at gunpoint by two suspects who demanded cash and stole two cell phones.
Heyward has been arrested and authorities are looking for his accomplice for the Friday robbery.
