Police say they arrested a 22-year-old man after finding more than $50,000 worth of marijuana at his home in North Charleston.
The North Charleston Police Department charged Brian Simmons with trafficking marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number and child endangerment.
It all started last Friday at 2 p.m. when members of the Special Operations Bureau responded to a home on Patriot Boulevard. While speaking with a subject, officers say they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the apartment.
According to investigators, a search warrant was obtained and officers located 5,267 grams of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $54,360 along with a semi auto .22 caliber hand gun with an obliterated serial number.
Simmons was locked up at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
