Bond was set at $125,000 for a 17-year-old boy accused of an armed robbery at an apartment complex in West Ashley.

Joseph Jenkins surrendered to police on Tuesday and was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Police say Jenkins and 17-year-old Anthony Heyward robbed a 27-year-old man at gunpoint at the Cypress Cove apartments on Colonial Ground around 11 p.m. on Friday.

Heyward is also being charged for an armed robbery that happened at the same location on April 17. Police have charged Heyward with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

School officials say Heyward is a student at West Ashley High School while Jenkins was expelled from the school a few months ago and enrolled in an alternative program. Jenkins and Heyward were locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center. Police are still in the process of identifying the second suspect in the April 17 armed robbery.

The investigation into both armed robberies continues.
