Haley: Focus on policies in 2012 race, not Obama

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley isn't weighing in on a new poll showing that most South Carolina Republicans and conservative independents think President Barack Obama is a socialist.

A Winthrop University poll shows 78% of conservative voters think Obama is a socialist and 25% wrongly believe he's a Muslim. The questions were specifically asked for and provided to The State newspaper.

Haley said Wednesday she doesn't put a lot of weight on polls. She says her administration's focusing on policies.

She says her attention on 2012 is looking at Republican candidates' plans for the country and their opinions on issues such as spending, raising the debt ceiling and international relations.
